29 year-old actress Lynn Chen, the subject of this week’s Young and Professional profile, began performing at a very young age. Yet, before she completely committed to the career, she decided to take some time off to find herself. Between getting her degree, working as a waitress and teaching at summer schools, Chen explored the world. Her colorful experiences eventually led her back to the stage, and have since put her on the brink of movie stardom. In 1997, a team of lawyers won a $1.1 million settlement for immigrant Chinese restaurant workers in lawsuits for back wages and tips from a Chinatown restaurant in New York City. In 2002, the same group filed and won a federal lawsuit, which amounted to $440,000 in back wages on behalf of a Korean immigrant maintenance worker forced to work without pay in a midtown Manhattan hotel.
